Two days ago, Microsoft bought Skype Technologies from Ebay for an estimated $8.5 billion. There's three questions that came to my mind when I got the news. First, who knew Ebay owned Skype?? Second, Skype doesn't make profit? As a matter of fact, they lost $7 million last year. Third, why would Microsoft buy a non-profitable company for $8.5 billion??
After some deep thoughts, I tended to give answers to my own questions. For the first question, I admitted that I wasn't informed enough and that I assumed based on my shallowness that Skype was owned by Skype. For the second question, errr... ... ... I kinda still don't have an answer for that one. I mean how does Skype not make money? Oh well, I concluded that there's a lot of things I didn't know. The third question was pretty easy to answer, not that I know the reason, but William Gates who's Microsoft's founder is the second World's Richest Man. So as we speak, only Carlos Slim Helu can say Microsoft made a bad move, all other humans don't count cause the dude is obviously very familiar with making such risky decisions.
In summary, Microsoft has a vision for Skype's future, and Skype executives have finally made money, it's therefore safe to say, "Both sides are excited". Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
