Derrick Rose became 2011 NBA Regular Season MVP yesterday. Not only that, he's the youngest ever player to achieve that feat, he's the only other Bull's player (beside Michael Jordan obviously) to have gotten an MVP award and finally, he beat, Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin respectively to get the award.
When I first heard the news, I was more excited that LeBron didn't win this time than I was that Rose won. When I now found out that LeBron was even 3rd place in the voting polls, I wasn't that excited anymore. With the way it is ATM, Derrick Rose is already in the Hall of Fame, except he decides to suck real bad next season (which is probably not gonna happen).
Rose averaged 22.5 PPG, 12.1 RPG, and 3.8 APG while playing in all 82 games this season. In his acceptance speech (video posted below), he attributed his success marjorly to his mom who according to him was always there, you gotta believe that that brought in the water works for both him and his mum. I think the kid really deserved the award, the question now is, is he going on some MJ shit?? Is he hitting 5 MVP's, who knows? He has just 5 more to go
